Bycks’ Condominiums

bycks-lgThe Bycks Condominiums is unique adaptive reuse project in the heart of Louisville’s entertainment district, 4th Street. Just half of a block south of 4th Street Live, the design is intended to bring downtown living back to this corridor.

The project connects two buildings to create true urban condominium living. The appearance of two buildings is maintained to the street, one façade restored, one façade completely redesigned. The new façade is a modern adaptation of a traditional façade. The design keeps with the predominate material of the late 1920s and 30s in Louisville, terracotta, but used in a modern rain screen technique.

The interior layout of the condominium units was based on the use of borrowing light. Through careful space planning and the addition of new open-air patios, each space has an abundance of natural lighting.
