The Lofts of Broadway

Though the site had been abandoned for some time, this building, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, was originally constructed as a tobacco warehouse. It is a prime example of turn-of-the-century industrial architecture.

Today, the 14-foot ceilings and heavy timber construction provide a character unmatched in all of Louisville. The Lofts of Broadway is an innovative apartment complex in the heart of downtown and is a key part of the transformation of the East Broadway area. It represents the largest private investment in the area in 50 years and was made possible with historic preservation tax credits. Joseph & Joseph was the architect and a developer on the project.

In 2006, the Lofts of Broadway was recognized with a design award for Project of the Year in the category of Adaptive Re-use from Multifamily Executive, a magazine for senior-level executives of multifamily housing units.
